A celebration breaks out annually on March 8th, which applauds the globe's women for all of their achievements. Women's day first appeared in 1909 in New York. A year later, the International Women's Conference proposed that the holiday be observed on the 8th of March. When women were granted the right to vote in The Soviet Union in 1917, Women's Day –  which is also simply called the 8th of March in Russia – became a national holiday. Women's Day was observed by communist and socialist countries until 1975, when the UN recognized the holiday as an international celebration. Today, you can find enormous festivals, conferences, and gatherings taking place around the world, which celebrate all that women have done for humanity and advancement.

This year's theme is "Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women's lives"

The UN Women stated, "Echoing the priority theme of the upcoming 62nd session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, International Women's Day will also draw attention to the rights and activism of rural women, who make up over a quarter of the world population, and are being left behind in every measure of development."

Happy International Women's Day!
